Time Magazine did an article awhile ago called What's the Best Diet? Eating Less Food. Their are a lot of tips offered in this article, such as cutting calories, choosing a diet, exercise recommendations and peer support. But the bottom line is this: As for the secret to losing weight? There is none. "It's basic physiology," Loria says. "Eat fewer calories than you expend."
That is harder than it sounds though, so that is where are the diet gimmicks come in. The Slim Fast Diet, so you don't have to do anything but drink a shake for two meals a day. The Alli pill that rids your body of unwanted fat, Jenny Craig where you eat prepackaged foods... The list goes on and on. So, let me add one more gimmick to the list. I call it the lipstick diet and I invented it myself, so you should take a look at that for sure!
I highly recommend the lipstick diet and will tell you a little story about how it worked for me today. I ran out to make a Starbucks run (to caffeinate myself and relieve stress) and that is always a dangerous thing. Why? Because when I Am feeling stressed and in need of indulgences, I can rationalize eating almost anything (even on a diet). Of course coffee shops do not help, because even if you show beverage restraint... there is still the whole case of goodies there to tempt you. However, I thought ahead and applied Frenched (yes, that is part of the lipstick diet) before going in. I confess that I did pause for a bit at the bakery case, but I did not order anything from it as it all looked rather bulky and like it would smudge my excellent lipstick. So I ordered a latte and sipped it slowly and enjoyed myself with that. Heavenly. I think this is going to work out just fine.
